The Answering Machine

"Heart-burstingly gorgeous fuzz-pop nuggets" - NME The Answering Machine release new single, Silent Hotels, through High Voltage Sounds on 18th June 2007. The follow up to sought after debut 7" Oklahoma in October 2006. Born out of a student bedsit in Manchester, The Answering Machine stumbled upon each other at University. The trio found themselves turning up at the same gigs, inhabiting the same salubrious drinking dens, and sharing mutual friends. Tracing the dots together, Martin, Pat and Gemma joined forces to form The Answering Machine in the winter of 2005. Uniting over an intense love of Scandinavian guitar acts and C86 era indie-pop, the band, led by vocalist/guitarist Martin and guitarist Pat, holed themselves up in their bedsit and wrote odes to life in the great city with bassist Gemma. Staunchly refusing to fall into the predictable, the band lacked a full-time drummer, and decided to invest in the so-called product of Taiwan, Mustafa Beat. A fully-fledged and easily programmable fourth member of the team. The Answering Machine are a busy live act with their own sold-out gigs and parties continuing across the North in May and June, with previous supports to the likes of Good Shoes, The Rumble Strips and Captain under their belts.
