Sebastien Tellier

French singer-songwriter Sebastien Tellier is signed to fellow countrymen Air's own label, Record Makers, and shares with his patrons a love of vintage synthesisers and kitsch lounge music. But where Air offer retro-futuristic pop melancholia, Tellier toughens his warm analogue sound with bursts of aggressive guitar distortion and a distinct lack of sentimentality. His 2002 debut, L'INCROYABLE VERITE, was notable for its complete lack of percussion, and its bleak, misanthropic tone marked him as the natural heir to Serge Gainsbourg's sublimely sleazy throne.
