Alphabeat

Purveyors of giddily upbeat pop, Denmark's Alphabeat burst onto the European music scene in 2008 with its lively debut, THIS IS ALPHABEAT. Fronted in time-honoured boy/girl fashion by Anders SG and Stine B and drawing inspiration from 1970/80s radio hits, Alphabeat often comes across as a more organic version of fellow Danes Junior Senior (as best revealed on the breezy, beat-driven "Fascination"). However, despite Alphabeat's accessibility, it does reveal an edgier background at times, most notably on its fine cover of Public Image Ltd's "Public Image."
